Mount Kilimanjaro Machame Route – 6 Days Trekking
Overview
Mount Kilimanjaro offers six main routes to the summit: Marangu, Machame, Lemosho, Shira, Rongai, and Umbwe. The Machame Route approaches from the south and descends via the Mweka route, making it one of the most scenic and well-balanced trekking options.
Known as the “Whisky Route,” the Machame Route is highly recommended for its breathtaking landscapes and higher summit success rate. Unlike shorter routes, it allows better acclimatization through gradual elevation gain and the “climb high, sleep low” principle. Trekkers experience diverse ecosystems, from dense rainforest to alpine desert and glaciers near the summit.
