1 Day Ol Doinyo Lengai Climb
Overview
Rising dramatically near Lake Natron, Ol Doinyo Lengai—meaning “Mountain of God” in the Maasai language—is one of the most unique volcanoes in the world.
Unlike typical volcanoes, it produces rare natrocarbonatite lava, often referred to as “cold lava,” with temperatures ranging between 510–600°C. This lava appears dark brown or black and flows more fluidly than other lava types.
Located in a remote and breathtaking landscape, this area is also home to thousands of flamingos and rich Maasai culture. The climb is steep and physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, offering stunning sunrise views over the Great Rift Valley.
