7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via Rongai Route
Overview
The 7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climb via the Rongai Route offers a unique and less crowded approach to Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. As the only route that approaches the mountain from the northern side near the Kenyan border, Rongai provides a quieter and more remote trekking experience, perfect for those seeking adventure away from busy trails.
This route is known for its gradual ascent profile, making it one of the best options for acclimatization and increasing the chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m). It is especially ideal during the rainy season, as the northern side of the mountain receives less rainfall compared to other routes.
Throughout the trek, climbers pass through diverse and scenic landscapes, including lush forest, open moorland, alpine desert, and the dramatic high-altitude saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. A key advantage of this itinerary is the extra acclimatization day at Mawenzi Tarn, allowing your body to adjust properly before the final summit push.
The adventure reaches its peak with a midnight ascent from Kibo Hut, trekking under the stars to Gilman’s Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak. After celebrating your achievement at the summit, you will descend via the Marangu Route.
With professional mountain guides from On Target Safaris, this journey guarantees safety, expert support, and an unforgettable Kilimanjaro experience.
